Blog Update August 2023

Updated: Aug 30, 2023

Since my last blog in June 2022 I have been out and about quite a bit. As well as my regular visits to Oban and Arisaig I have also been exploring our beautiful East Coast especially around Seacliff/North Berwick and Dunbar area. Seacliff is a beautiful hamlet near Tantallon Castle. The rich red colour of the rocks with the magnificent Bass Rock in the background is stunning. North Berwick and Dunbar also have their own individual character. Having painted a number of originals which are now sold I am happy to say some prints are available. The view from the top of North Berwick Law is amazing as you can see for miles and of course across to Fife. After the climb to the top walking along the beach with some salt and pepper squid and chips is my idea of heaven!

My exhibition in the Woodside Garden Centre was a success as was the Crafters Art & Design Fair in Kelso and the Abbotsford Christmas Market. On a more personal front I spent a day at Edinburgh Zoo as a Zoo keeper. This was something I had always wanted to do. It was for me the highlight of 2022. just a fabulous birthday present from my family and its one I would recommend.

My 2023 Calendar sold out very quickly and I am happy to say my 2024 Calendar is now available and features again some of my favourite locations such as Rhu Beach, Clachan Sands, Harris, Iona and many more. I am also launching for the first time a slimline 2024 Scottish Borders Appointment Calendar which will feature my new paintings of Neidpath Castle and the view from the Sware to Manor Valley.

You can take a look at my 2024 calendar here.

As well as a successful Art @ Ancrum, so far 2024 has seen me accomplish another fabulous experience which was again a family present - feeding and interacting with Otters - I just loved it! I also enjoyed a days skiing in the Cairngorms and captured a number of beautiful early evening shots which I plan to paint. As always I have had a number of trips to Mallaig as well as the most wonderful trip to May Island from Anstruther. The island is full of history and the abundance of puffins flying all around was a joy to see. They have so much character. More recenty I spent the day going round Pittenween Art festival admiring the talent of other artists and crafters.

Watch out for my next events which include:

23 September - Philiphaugh Country and Food Festival, Selkirk

7/8 October - Woodside BOG - Apple Festival

18/19 November - The Crafters Art & Design Fair , Kelso

Thank you to you all who support my Etsy shop, outlets and Craft fairs. Your appreciation of my work is very much appreciated.
